Physical Experiences

Breathwork experiences are unique and different every time for every person. But some typical things you may experience physically are:

  • tingling in your hands and feet

  • temperature fluctuations

  • light headed

Emotional Experiences

We often say that whatever comes up for you is what you were meant to feel in this moment. You can experience many emotions throughout a breathwork session. Breathwork allows your mind to calm into a state of openness with your emotional self, and this allows you to connect to unresolved emotions or past experiences. You may feel love, joy, sadness, peace, laughter, grief, or anger. You may feel many of these all in one session.

Mental Experiences

Breathwork can open a direct link to your subconscious mind. Breathwork is a unique, and often new experience for our "awake" minds, which are wired to protect us from potential "threats" to our safety. Typically this comes out in a breathwork session as "mental chatter", most commonly for the first 10 minutes of breathing. Your mind needs time to adjust and trust the experience.  We will guide you through this part of your session, reminding you to keep breathing and trust the inner chatter will pass.

Setting and Atmosphere

Breathwork can be done in-person or online. Our sessions are set in a comfortable safe setting. You may be in a group , couple or individual session. Lighting usually kept low. You will be supported with prominent music specifically selected for the session. This could range from in-person live instrumentation/sound bath to current mainstream pop music. We note our music selection for the session in our bookings.

If you are joining online, we suggest you choose a comfortable safe setting where you can be free from distraction for the duration of the session. You will be connected with us and the music via a Zoom link.

The Session

We will begin each session by explaining what breathwork is, and what you may experience, and what to expect for the session. You will begin with an  ACTIVE breathing phase (typically around 28 minutes). You will end your active breathing phase by letting out a large scream. You will then return to your normal breathing for the remainder of the session. During this phase, your meditation will be supported by sound experiences and/or spoken guidance from the facilitator. We may offer supportive touch only if consent is provided.  We will be present to hold space and offer any support you may need throughout your session.
